Challenge

When it comes to accountants, Jay Villemarette, owner and president of Skulls Unlimited, has seen his fair share over the years. “When I first started my business, I tried working with a few different firms, trying to find just the right fit for our company.” This was no small task given the nature of his business, which sells skulls and other osteological specimens, both animal and human. “This is a pretty specialized field and not many people understand the ins and outs,” says Jay. “So unfortunately, we ran through a couple of accountants who either didn’t really get us or were just flat out incompetent.”

Solution

After a little trial and error, Jay was introduced to Christian Brim. “He made a great first impression,” says Jay. “Even though I was a little gun shy, given my previous experience with accountants, he put me at ease.” Christian immediately set to work getting things back in order and correcting the mistakes of those who preceded him. “Not too long into working with him, I knew I’d found the right accountant. He was able to find and fix errors made by others and helped get me back on track.”

Results

Over 20 years later, Jay is still a client with Christian and Core Group. “It’s been a good relationship; they’ve helped our company grow and are always there to help. Sometimes it makes their heads spin when they see how we sell what normally can’t be sold, but that’s part of the fun!” Today, Core Group continues to assist Skulls Unlimited with all their business accounting and payroll needs. Additionally, Jay and many of the Skulls Unlimited staff rely on Core for their personal incomes taxes.
