2021 Tax Deadlines

2021 threw a lot of curveballs, and trying to figure out what is “normal” is a challenge.  Tax deadlines are no different.  I expect there will be confusion again this year as tax deadlines revert to their regular dates.

Congress extended the deadlines for filing (and paying) taxes in 2021, but this  year no such exceptions have been made.  So here are the deadlines for various upcoming tax filings.

  • Individual Income Taxes (Form 1040):  Due April 18th

  • S-Corporation and Partnership (Forms 1120S and 1065): Due March 15th

  • C-Corporation (Form 1120): Due April 18th

  • Individual Extension: Due October 17th

  • S-Corporation and Partnership Extension: Due September 15th

  • C-Corporation Extension: Due October 17th

Other important deadlines for small businesses coming up soon:

  • Federal Unemployment Tax (Form 940): January 31st

  • W-2/W-3 Wage Reports: January 31st

  • 1099-Misc/1096: Due February 28th if filing paper, March 31th if filing electronically

Remember, these are deadlines for FILING, not paying.  Income taxes are due on April 15th, regardless of whether you receive an extension to file.
